Dear Friends:

Thank you to all of our supporters for enabling us to create greater awareness while protecting people from euthanasia.

The Ontario MAiD Death Review Committee released a report in mid-October outlining the euthanasia data in Ontario while focussing on six cases that represent groups of concerning cases. The report admits to serious infractions of the law. Why has there been no attempted prosecutions in Ontario and/or why has there been no medical license suspensions? The Review Committee outlines six cases, but these people are already dead. Euthanasia mistakes cannot be reversed. You can access the report documents at these links: Marginalization Data Perspectives; Report 2024 – 2; Report 2024 – 3.

The stories from the Committee have been featured in the British media, as the UK prepares to debate a bill to legalize assisted suicide. While in the UK, I had the opportunity to meet with several Members of Parliament and share some of the stories from Canada. I hope that they will not follow Canada’s lead.

On September 7, the Québec government announced that they will permit euthanasia by advanced request starting on October 30 (today) even though the federal law does not permit it. On October 28, Canada’s Health Minister, Mark Holland, announced that the government will launch a consultation on euthanasia by advanced request. This changes the nature of consent.

A British Columbia judge has granted a 30-day injunction to prevent the euthanasia death of a woman whose husband claims that she does not have an irremediable medical condition. This case is similar to the Calgary case of the 27-year-old autistic woman who was approved for euthanasia. The father successfully challenged it but she has been approved once again. I will keep you updated on this story.

The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition (EPC) has published a new pamphlet, “People who are living with mental illness need care. Euthanasia is not the answer.” The pamphlet opposes the euthanasia lobby court challenge to permit euthanasia for mental illness. It features stories about people with mental health concerns who felt pressured to consider euthanasia and are happy to be alive. Order the pamphlet online at this link. Email me to inquire about further bulk orders: info@epcc.ca

EPC continues to distribute the card, “Your Life is Worth Living! Euthanasia is not the answer.Order these cards online at this link.

Our donors have always enabled us to be effective. Can you make a one-time donation? EPC needs more people to commit to becoming a regular or monthly donor. Can you donate $25 or more per month? Call 1-877-439-3348. Thank you for your financial support, we cannot continue without it.
