Description
Since the introduction of palliative care in Canada by Dr. Balfour Mount in 1974 at Montreal’s Royal Victoria Hospital, it is clear that much can and should be done for patients suffering pain and other noxious symptoms associated with progressive and terminal disease. The principles and practice of good palliative hospice care already developed and utilized, makes it abundantly clear that there is no need for Canadians to die in pain, loneliness and anxiety.
