Description
From the booklet’s introduction:
“At the age of 46, our only daughter was diagnosed with a stage 4 sarcoma. At the age of 48, after unsuccessful treatments in Canada, the United States and Mexico, with death at her doorstep, she chose euthanasia. These poems were written after our grief counsellor suggested that writing would help us cope with our complex grief. My wife wrote the single poem ‘Timeline for an Execution’. This inspired me to change the focus of my writing from poems about my daughter’s cancer which I was working on to poems about the murderous execution that euthanasia is.
The following are some of these poems crafted in pain and anguish. If they deter even a single person from choosing euthanasia/assisted suicide, they will have served their purpose.
I also hope that any person considering witnessing the actual moment that the deadly liquid enters their loved one’s body choose not to do so as this will leave them with deep psychological scars which they will carry to the grave with them. Remember, you are choosing to witness a murder; nevertheless, had I not made a mistake by witnessing the event to its conclusion, I would not have been able to write these poems, which I hope will give people around the world a clearer picture of the nature of euthanasia, from beginning to end.”
